TAFF Committee on East Devon Business Forum correctly gagged?

13 Dec
This week’s first meeting of the Special Committee scrutinising the Business Forum, prompted these thoughts from an observer:
‘Many people will be puzzled by the ‘legal advice’ from EDDC Chief Executive, Mark Williams, on Tuesday that a Task and Finish Forum of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee has no authority to consider planning matters.
In 2007 a TAFF on Employment Land Supply  did exactly that.  It rubbished  the conclusions of an independent consultant,  Atkins, and proposed a grossly inflated figure for the amount of industrial land needed in the East Devon Draft Local Plan.
It was, of course, chaired by Cllr Graham Brown who was then, and still is, chairman of the EDBF.’
