Diviani lashes out at Tories

4 Aug

Story here:

What seems to upset the Leader is that EDDC doesn’t get control of 100% of government money for housing, only  40% of it,  and the regional Local Enterprise Partnership gets 60%.

What he doesn’t mention is that the LEP has no strong links with EDDC, though EDDC has tried to forge them and has no EDBF members in any positions of power (old EDBF minutes show how much they tried and failed to work their way in).

The LEP seems to prefer to administer the money without EDDC and EDBF interference. Is that what Mr Diviani is so angry about?

Does this mean the gravy train won’t be stopping at Honiton after all?

Mr Cohen looks most uncomfortable – mind you, he should.

It is probably for the best that a neutral body gets control of most of the money. One has only to remember what Shirley Porter did in Westminster to see what can happen when housing money is used politically and not socially. Let’s hope the LEP can see where real need is in the area and direct funds to those areas and not to where local landowners would profit most.

i remember meeting Tim Jones ( SW LEP ) at the last EDBF meet before ” the troubles ” arose and he was very upbeat and positive. He also mentioned the £20m bung that this coalition govt. gave Cranbrook as a political spin exercise for, i think, M5 junction improvements. i used this example to push for LEP funds for the proposed Axminster N-S relief road, but was told that too much paperwork was involved ( in as many words ). I do agree though, using funds as a political tool sucks and disenfranchises those who get no benefit; we all pay for ingredients for the pie but some seem to take bigger slices than others when its cooked. have a great day. p.

How can Diviani “lash out at Tories” – that would mean that he was lashing out against himself – at the last count he stood as a Tory for EDDC didn’t he?
