Planning Minister sees the light

9 Nov

After initially telling everyone that nothing and no-one should stand in the way of developers, Planning Minister Nick Boles – in response to an idea initially floated by Labour Leader Ed Milliband which would see land siezed if not built upon within a specific period – has changed his mind about “land banking”.  Boles has now decided that pressure must be put on those developers who obtain planning permission but then leave their land  and planning permission idle (sometimes for many years, getting tame planning departments like ours to extend their permissions) whilst house prices rise.

Story here:

Does this man really understand the planning system?  Does he understand anything?  How long will it be before he caves into developer pressure yet again?  We shall see.
