East Devon District Council has employed specialist lawyer whose speciality is fending off village green applications

13 Jan

This advertisement for a seminar in June 2013 by specialist lawyer Polly Reynolds includes the following information:

She has acted for the Ministry of Defence, the Secretary of State for Health, NHS Trusts, Local Authorities (including East Devon District Council, Somerset County Council, Bristol City Council, Wiltshire Council and Gloucestershire County Council), Landowners, Developers and third parties on a range of planning and highway related matters. This has included advising on:

•    town and village green applications and defences

•    negotiation of planning and highway agreements

•    planning appeals (including advocacy)

•    planning enforcement

•    applications for certificates of lawful use (proposed and existing)

•    judicial review.

and this further information

This presentation provides an overview of the key areas of conflict when it comes to registering (and de-registering) Town and Village Greens and looks at how some of the key recent cases have affected judicial attitudes. It also assesses how the measures contained in the Growth and Infrastructure Act 2013 will affect applications for Town or Village Green status and considers strategies that landowners can adopt to fend off applications, in particular by the exchange of land.

Wonder how much that has cost the council tax payers of East Devon?  And just remember, the landowners are US?  Have you been asked for your views on these matters?

So we, as Council-tax payers, are paying for the Council to pay Polly to stymie our Town Green application for the gardens under threat at Knowle!

We should ask EDDC what she did for them and how much they paid her
