Congratulations

17 May

… to Karime Hassan, former head of Regeneration at EDDC who is now Chief Executive elect at Exeter City Council.

We wonder if he shares the concern of the city’s MP, Ben Bradshaw (Labour) that EDDC is getting the carrots at Cranbrook (Council Tax, grants) whilst Exeter gets the sticks (responsibility for infrastructure needs).

Karime (note spelling) is a fine local authority office and well deserving of his new role. Shame we lost him from EDDC but Sidmouth Sid (who are you by the way? Please be transparent!!) is right – congratulations Karime!

There is no criticism of Mr Hassan above as far as I can see, simply a question as to whether the CEO of Exeter Council (whose area shares a boundary with East Devon where he used to work) will see eye to eye with Exeter’s MP. Sometimes people see what they want to see and not what is really there. I think it is a legitimate question to ask.

The relationship between a council CEO and its MPs is critical and affects people in each area.
