“Feniton is literally under attack … but Feniton is fighting back.”

5 Nov

This quote is from Independent Councillor Susie Bond’s comment on a report on last night’s Feniton meeting (See Over £2,000 pledged by Feniton residents for Fighting Fund, 5th November http://www.claire-wright.org)

Councillor Bond’s predecessor as representative for Feniton and Buckerell, was of course Graham Brown, who stood down as Chair of the now disbanded East Devon Business Forum, and was expelled from the East Devon Conservative Party, after the Daily Telegraph ‘Councillor -for-hire ‘sting (March 2013). In the secretly filmed interview, he predicted a ‘stampede’ of planning applications by developers, which the government’s National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) encourages.

As Spotlight TV’s interview with Dr John Withrington made clear yesterday, what is happening at Feniton is also taking place in many other places throughout East Devon, and the rest of the country.  No wonder the BBC ‘Inside Out’ team were filming the event for a forthcoming documentary…
